With our two trades, forging and cutlery-making, our workshop carries out every stage in the production of a Laguiole knife—whether folding knives or tableware—entirely within our facilities located in Laguiole. We were the first company to be certified with the Laguiole Knife Geographical Indication, an official recognition of the authenticity and quality of our craftsmanship.
We invite you to discover this excellence in traditional craftsmanship through our free guided visits, offered throughout the year.
1 – Main Visit: The Cutlers’ Workshop
The first part takes place in an air-conditioned amphitheatre, where you will learn about the history of the Laguiole knife, the criteria used to distinguish genuine knives from imitations, and sharpening techniques. Time is also set aside for questions.
The second part continues in the workshop itself, where a cutler shapes the handle of a Laguiole knife before your eyes.
Visits from Monday to Saturday. Departures at 11:00 a.m., 2:30 p.m., 3:45 p.m., and 5:00 p.m. (Please consult us for Sundays and public holidays.)
More than 10 adults: full guided tour (both parts).
Fewer than 10 adults: guided tour + video.
Fewer than 6 adults: video only.
2 – Technical Visit: The Mechanical Forge
Immerse yourself in the blacksmith’s trade through an educational tour explaining the manufacture of blades, springs, bees, bolsters, and liners.
Self-guided and informative visit, from Monday to Friday, all year round.
3 – Historical Visit: The Museum and Damascus Steel Forge
Discover our heritage of forged objects and our collection of antique knives. On certain afternoons, you may also witness the forging of Damascus steel (pattern-welded steel), a rare and spectacular experience.
Self-guided and informative visit, from Monday to Saturday, all year round. Free admission with any purchase made in our workshop.
