Along the left bank of the Lot, in a fertile plain, at 4 km upstream from St Geniez, the medieval hamlet of Ste Eulalie d'Olt, village listed among the Prettiest Villages in France . The medieval town, nestled in greenery, charms the visitor with its stone houses, sometimes thatched, and their generously flowery façades. Through the twisting narrow alleys, shaded squares and spots, the walker discoves the secular past of the town and the local know-how in the workshops of the arts craftsmen. A land of traditions, the village managed to keep two: the Procession of Sainte Epine, the 2nd Sunday in July and the "Poule Un" (auction of donkey food) on 1 November.

It welcomes young people from 7 to 12, who hold 'discovery' permits and who pay 1 euro per session and are authorised to take three trouts, instructed by André Friedmann, Elian Vieillescazes and Philippe Caullier who provide the bait and the suitable equipment.

It is said that in the late 15th century there lived in St-Geniez a fisherman whose two children had captured a gopher. The little animal ran off scared on a stormy afternoon. The two children ran after it when a violent storm started and immersed the valley in a real deluge. On their return, several houses, including theirs had been washed away. By fleeing the little animal had saved their lives. They were nicknamed "the Marmots". By extension the name was given to all the inhabitants.
