In the heart of the lower plateaus, a loop trail runs along the slopes of the volcanic crater beside which the village of Alcapiès was built, dotted with fossil deposits that will delight budding geologists.

Walk near a volcano in complete tranquility! In Alcapiès, perched on its hillside and overlooking Saint-Jean, you’ll find the most visible remains of a volcanic episode on the causses that occurred 2.5 million years ago. Between Puech de Pradeilles and Puech de Loubio, take a stroll near the crater and imagine the lava flowing through the valleys…
