Exact replica of the statue that pope Pius IX erected in thegardens of the Vatican after the definition of the immaculate conception. The emblems of the four evangelists as Ezechiel saw them in his prophecies are placed on the statue: the angel, emblem of St Matthew, the lion for Marc, the bull for Lucas and the eagle for John, the author of the apocalypse.
