History of the mines and industry of the Aubin-Decazeville area. Reconstruction of a mine gallery.
Inaugurated in 1979, the Aubin Mine Museum retraces the history of the Decazeville coalfield through 3 rooms. Accompanied by a guide you will discover the men at the origin of the industrial revolution, the major events of these 150 years of mining and steel industry, the reality of the working conditions of the miners, the different jobs that men, women and sometimes even children had, and how they fought many times to obtain rights. Traditional miners' equipment, numerous tools, corporate flags and banners, archival documents, and an attractive museography invite you to relive this great industrial epic that will end with the simulation of a firedamp strike...Thrills guaranteed!
