This unique phenomenon in Rouergue is caused by erosion and generates natural abysses dug in the red clay, known under the nickname of 'the path of the fairies'.

In a terrain made up of more or less thick and more or less hard layers depending on their richness in flint or gravel, water and atmospheric agents dug a furrow that grew over time. This furrow, which is called an igue, is about 20 meters deep and 40 to 70 meters wide. The curiosity of this geological phenomenon, unique in the Region, lies in the decoration of the walls of the igues which seem sculpted by the hand of man. The erosion left like towers, looters, isolated or assembled columns, on which the water has carved hollows and reliefs, the whole of which is reminiscent of the ruins of a castle.
