Gîte de la Fontaine de Barry

You will be in quiet surroundings in this charming little independent house of 60 m² with fireplace, parking and private garden, completely renovated in 2011 with environmentally-friendly materials.

The “Gite de la Fontaine” (or, “the guesthouse by the fountain”) is ideally located to visit Aveyron and the Levezou lake district. It is located in a hamlet of a dozen houses where only local residents use the one road. Children will come and go safely on foot, on bikes or on their scooters.

The guesthouse has a private parking spot, a small garden set back from the road to enjoy the outsides, and a fireplace if you choose to come in the off-season. The house is fully independent. The bedrooms are upstairs, while the living rooms are on the ground floor. The two bedrooms have exposed beams and stones which give them a hushed charm. The parents' room is fitted with a double bed, while the children's is equipped with two single beds and a folding one for a third child if necessary. The bathroom and the toilets separate the two rooms. The bathroom is fitted with a wide shower and a washbasin.

Downstairs, there are a fully equipped kitchen, a living room, a dining room with a fireplace and a television…

The guesthouse is a former farm shed which we renovated in 2010-2011. We kept the old stones from the walls as well as the wood beams. The rest was renovated using natural materials, such as lime plaster and brickwork, solid wood parquet floors, untreated pine paneling, organic paint on partitions, insulation made with sheep's wool from the village.

The guesthouse is fully independent, but we live nearby so we will be there if you need us.

A short trail goes round Barry; it will take you to the fountain, and the yards where the local inhabitants raise various animals.

The guesthouse has been fitted with modern devices: hot water, induction plates, dishwasher, washing machine, pyrolysis oven, microwave etc. The teak garden furniture, protected by an arbor will provide for a Manet-like outdoor lunch.

The beds come with duvets; equipment for infants is provided for free, such as a high chair, a folding bed, a trail-sturdy stroller.

The guesthouse is heated with electric heaters and an open-hearthed insert fireplace. Wood is complimentary.

Should you decide to go mountain biking, we'll be glad to keep your gear safe in our barn. We'll also hand you maps to go on fun rides of your chosen length.

The guesthouse has unlimited Internet access.
