Découvrez la vie de château le temps d’une excursion dans l’un de ces trésors du patrimoine de l’Aveyron.

Avec près de quatre-vingts édifices construits du Moyen Âge (Calmont d’Olt) à la Renaissance (Bournazel), le département de l’Aveyron vous offre de découvrir le monde enchanté de ses châteaux. Qu’ils aient accueilli les moines soldats pendant la période des croisades ou l’un des plus grands peintres de la Belle Epoque, Toulouse-Lautrec (Château du Bosc), chacun est ancré dans le destin d’une terre passionnée que vous saurez apprécier à travers la richesse de son histoire. Ils se dressent fièrement sur tout le territoire aveyronnais, parfois isolés, parfois au cœur d’un « plus beau village de France » ou d’une cité templière.

Certains châteaux se sont regroupés en association afin de proposer le plus large calendrier de visites possible. Ainsi est née « la Route des Seigneurs du Rouergue » dont la charte vous garantit la qualité de l’accueil.

Les enfants ne sont pas oubliés puisque plusieurs châteaux leur proposent des animations qui leur sont spécialement consacrées durant les week-ends et les vacances scolaires.

Enfin il est indispensable de noter qu’en septembre,  les « ponts-levis » de tous ces châteaux s’abaissent gratuitement pour votre plus grand plaisir, en l’honneur des journées du patrimoine.

Eglise et croix d'Orlhaguet

In Orlhaguet, one of the most beautiful villages in the north Aveyron, nicknamed the "Nice of the mountain" come and discover a series of 13 sculpted crosses from the 15th and 16th centuries that naturally lead you to the fortified church, half Romanesque, half Gothic, surmounted by massive defence constructions dating from the 14th century.

La Salvetat-Peyralès

From La Salvetat follow the D905 towards Carmaux for 3.5km. The ruins of the Chateau are on the left. It's hard to imagine that this castle, perched on a pinnacle above the Lézert, was once so important that it gave its name to the whole region (Peyralès). As well as a fortified tower and the arcades of a former church, the ruins of several other buildings are still visible, on the plateau and on the slopes leading to it. You'll find information on the panel just before the castle. THE RUINS ARE DANGEROUS. ACCESS IS FORBIDDEN.

The family château of the famous painter Toulouse Lautrec: a richly furnished mediaeval château that has always been in the painter's family. Le Bosc is open everyday of the year from 9am to 7pm.
