Maison de Maître


Assènes is a picturesque village reputed for its view point from Roc St-Jean, a magnificent view over the Tarn and its tributaries but it is also known for its Maison de la Châtaigne et des arts Religieux (free visits). In bygone years, Assènes was considered as a royal bastide and the population lived essentially from chestnuts and wine production. The village is situated in les Raspes du Tarn within the Parc Naturel Régional des Grands Causses.
