Le Bas-Ségala

Vabre - Tizac

Vabre-Tizac is a grouping of two villages and three parishes, lying at an altitude of 200 to 800 metres between the Aveyron and Viaur valleys. From the village hall in Vabre you can take a walk to discover the contrasting landscapes of hidden wooded valleys and high plateaux.

Vabre is a former fortified village of houses set one against the other. The fortified gate beside the Mairie contains elements dating back to the 13th century.

Tizac, the name of which ends in “-ac” (a field), shows traces of the Roman occupation of Gaul.

At Bleyssol there is a beautiful 15th century stone cross, listed as a historic monument and bearing the arms of the powerful Morlhon family, the last remnant of the former priory of Saint Clair
