Le cheval du Roi


This huge granite rock in the form of a horses back weighs between 5 and 6 tons and may once have formed part of a dolmen- what is intriguing however, is how it got to its present site on the heights above the village of Flauzins, where the geology is schist, not granitewhat is intriguing however, is how it got to its present site on the heights above the village of Flauzins, where the geology is schist, not granite.

It must have been transported here from several kilometers away, but how?

At a height of 623 metres youll also find an orientation table which will allow you to make the most of the magnificent views. To get here from Lescure, take the road towards La Salvetat. On leaving the village, turn right, signposted Cheval du Roi (2km + 100m walk).
