In the 13th century, the neighbouring Lézert valley was the setting for a particular industrial activity: fifteen or so Martinets (hydraulic forges) worked and produced the “coupe noire” rough containers used to make cauldrons and pots. One of these forges, Martinet de la Ramonde has been entirely restored and is now in working order. Today the site has become an unmissable place to visit in the region.
