CHÂTEAU DE VEZINS
12th and 17th century château, 900 years in the same family. Eugène Viala and Renaud de Vezins Museum painters and engravers from the Lévézou. Prix du Patrimoine 2000 Région Midi Pyrénées (Midi-Pyrénées regional Heritage Prize) awarded by the National Association "Les Vieilles Maisons Françaises" (Old French Houses).
The visit of the château (exterior and interior) includes, on the ground floor: vaulted 12th and 13th century cellars. First floor: dining room, small gallery (heraldic souvenirs), Marquis' room (hunting souvenirs), living rooms, 16th and 17th century tapestry galleries, Henri IV's chamber, etc... On the ground floor in a room with vaulted ceiling, a museum pays homage to Eugène Viala (1859-1913) and to Renaud de Vezins (1882-1932) painters and engravers from the Lévézou - 1900 to 1913 water colours. The visit is centred on: the evolution of historical souvenirs, an exhibition on water colour and etching techniques and on heritage conservation. A series of riddles all through the visit.
