The Conservatory's mission is to safeguard and promote exceptional heritage: one of the most remarkable witnesses to the presence in the West of the Knights Templar then Hospitaller. Since 1997, a programme of historical research, scientific publications and touristic and cultural development has been engaged upon to enable a larger public (history lovers but also families, walkers, school trips...) to discover the treasures that the sites of La Cavalerie, La Couvertoirade, Sainte-Eulalie-de-Cernon, Le Viala du Pas de Jaux and Saint-Jean d'Alcas harboured.
